1.     Greeting and Leaving Expressien
a.       Greeting Expression
These expression are used to greet people whom you know a little better
·         Good morning/afternoon/evening.
·         How are you?
  These expression are used to greet someone better.


·         Hello                          
·         How are you doing?
·         How are you getting on?

·         How’s life ?
·         Morning





   The following expression are used to greet someone after not seeing for a long time


·         What a surprise !
·         How nice to see you again.
·         Nice to see you again.

·         Nice to meet you again .
·          Really good to see you again.
·         Long time no see.




b.      Leaving Expression
Before you leave or say goodbye, you can use the following pre – closing
·         Well I’m afraid I have to be going
·         Well I’m  afraid I’ve got to now
·         Maybe we could get together sometime
·         I really must go now
·         It was nice to see you
·         Great to see you
·         I’ve really got to go
·         Got to go now
·         Nice to see you
The following expression are to end or close your meeting.

NOTE :
·         Good morning is used from 12:01 a.m (from the time you wake up) until 11:59 a.m
·         Good afternoon is used from 12:01 p.m until 6:00 p.m
·         Good evening is used from 6:00 p.m until 9:00 p.m
·         Good  night is used before you go to bed (and/or from 6:00 p.m to midnight)


2.     Introducing Expression
There are two situations from introducing. They are introducing ourselves and introducing someone. These expression bellow are the examples of  how to introduce ourselves and introduce someone.
·         Hi, my name is Try. May I know your name?
·         May I introduce myself?
·         Hello, I am Ario. Nice to meet you.
·         I am Rijal. How do you do
·         Pleased to meet you. I’m Silva
 These expressions below are some examples of response of the introduction
·         Hi, I am Jody. It’s great to see you
·         Nice to meet you Sue, I am Jane
·         Hello, I am Budi
·         I am Jane, nice to meet you too
·         Hi, I am Syam, how do you do

3.     Thanking
a.       Expression of Gratitude
The common expression to hank somebody are thank you or thanks.
Emphatic ways of thanking thank you very much, thank you so much, or thanks a lot.
You cannot say “thank you a lot” or “thanks a lot”
·         That’s very kind of you
·         That’s very good of you
  If you want to indicate why you are thanking, you say ”thank you for...”or “thanks
  for...”
EXPRESSION OF GRATITUDE
         I want to thank you for .....
         I want to tell you for ....
         I want to tell you how grateful I am
         I’m extremely grateful to you for ...
         I’m grateful for ....

b.      Expressions that Need Response of  Thank
*      Congratulations

4.     Apologizing
a.       Expressing Apologies
1.      To express apology, you can use the following expression
                               I.            Sorry, I could not come to the party.
                            II.            I’m sorry for the mistakes
2.      You can use adverb, such as “very”, ”terribly”, “so”, and “extremly” to make your apology more emphatic.
·         I’m very sorry for the misunderstanding.
·         I’m terribly sorry. I can’t meet you for any longer.
·         I’m sorry for the misspelling.
·         I’m extremely sorry for the failure.
3.      If you want to express apology in formal way, you can use the following expressions.
·         I apologize for my late arrival
·         I really must apologize for disturbing you weekend.
·         I do apologize for the service.
4.      To accept an apology you can use the expression thank O.K, that’s right, forget it, don’t worry about it, or it doesn’t metter.

5.      To reject an apology
Ø  Are you really sorry
Ø  I don’t believe you’re sorry
Ø  You’re not really sorry
Ø  Don’t say you’re sorry
Ø  I don’t accept your apology
Ø  I’m tired of hearing you say that you’re sorry

b.      The Expression of Pardon
Study these short dialogues!
·         Mr. Budi walk in front of this manager.
Mr. Budi : Excuse me
Manager  : Certainly.
·         Mr. Hadi is talking about something with his manager. Mr. Budi interrupts their coversation.
Mr. Budi : Pardon me
Manager  : Oh. Certainly 

Note :
“ I beg your pardon? “ is very formal
 

 5. Simple Present Tense
          The simple present tense expresses an event has exists always, usually or habitually in
 the past, present and future.
 Example :
·         Andy wakes up at 5 o’clock in the morning
·         He usually goes to school by bus
The simple present tense expresses genera statement of fact, general truth habitual action, and an action is happening now.
·      Our capital is in Jakarta
·      Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is our president
